hi there im new on this world about immo, dump files etc etc... and i will like to learn about it. probably i have one of the worse cases but this the history .... bought this 2004 a4 w/blown head... fix the mechanical problem (that what i do for living)... when i start the vehicle the first time it will start and die a second later... immo code on ecu.. now after that i called a locksmith a he try for a while to program the key whit no luck then he said cluster has to be removed to get a pin code of it so he can program key to cluster... pulled cluster off and two hours later still nothing. at this point locksmith recommend to replace cluster ... i ask if he can do an immo of ( i learn about it on youtube) and he did, now car start and hazards flash for about 4 min and SAFE is displayed on cluster.... now this is where im at, i order a cluster on ebay so i will try to do this myself but i need help from gurus here lol... i pulled the eeprom off the cluster ( 24c08wq) and read the info of it using miniprog w/no luck finding a pin code, all i can see is the dump file... from here what do you guys recomend me to do?? if i post the dump file can any one tell me the pin code?? any help will be really appreciated...

Not possible from a dump read directly from eeprom. It is only possible thru obd but you need some cables that can pull the pin out od rb8

what adapter did you use to do so? im having a issue with a client RB8 and to the point im just going to clone it to another cluster. i have read the eeprom 24c08 chip using a ch341a chip reader but not sure thats the correct way. i do have a carprog and read that you must do it over obd, is this all kline? assuming ecu and cluster needs to be connected together to pull the eeprom and skc?

Only by obd thru kline , you cant copy epprom from cluster to cluster , you dont need keys or ecu connected to pull skc etc.
Which generation of immo does this cluster have?

im honestly not sure how would i go about reading what IMMO it is? vcds will not connect to the original even on the bench. the replacement i have sitting here is rb8 981n from what i see in the eeprom i was able to pull (tags are not readable). both clusters are "color" screens so im hoping for the best.

Yes immo4 for sure - if you cant read the original cluster then you will have problem because you need to copy immo ( skc , cp and mac ) from the old cluster to new. The other option is to read it from ecu.
