Hi folks

I have an Audi A4 b5 tdi with the Edc15 ECU and it has fault code

16955/P0571/001393 - Brake Light Switch (F): Implausible Signal

I have replaced it about 4 times, changed every single bulb, checked all wiring and connectors and still the code persists, I fear it might be a problem with the clocks? you cannot delete it as soon as you press clear it reappears, brake lights work perfectly, but obviously cruise no longer does!

I was wondering if there is a way to code this out as it activated the flow plug warning light and it’s annoying as hell and also prevents me from being alerted if there is a real issue with the car!

If I could code this out and keep cruise that would be amazing!

Thanks in advance!

Ah, so disregard my comment in your first post Tongue

Have you tried changing out the ECU? I have seen a bad board do this a few times.

Hi,
Thanks for the advice, I have not tried an ecu yet, but I hav noticed they can be had fairly cheaply

Would I need to do an immo defeat on this version of ecuif I was to swap it out? (I know on some early 2000’s vag stuff it can be done in VCDS)

Cheers

Yes, you can adapt the new donor computer to your car as long as you have the SKC numbers of the new and old ECU so you can pair the cluster back up with the new computer. Immo off is also an option, but wouldn't be achievable through VCDS.

Sorry my mistake was rushing when I responded to the thread, I meant to recode the ecu to the cars transponder/keys etc so that the immo still works, which can be done within VCDS, but thanks for your helpful reply....

Thought as much, thanks again. I’ll get another ecu ordered, give it a shot and report back then it’s onto some mapping to better support my mods! Suppose I can always use the old ecu as a test unit
