Hi Guys,
I need your help here. I have a Touareg 1. I bought it with one key. I bought a new key and used vcds to do the key matching.
I retreived the skc pin code from the Touareg with vag commander.
I started the key matchine, there was a message I can't remember on the dashboard then nothing.
I tried the old key first.
Now when I put the key and turn it to ignition position I have no lights on the dashboard and vcds does not work since there is no ignition.
I tried the vcds touareg 7l wake-up procedure. key in => apply brakes 20sec then start the procédure over again but I can not talk to the immobilizer  module.
I have an eeprom dump of the treg but I think I need a tool to wake up the immobilizer.
Any help would be very very much appreciated.

I used vag commander to get the skc only. I used vcds to do the key adaptation.

Out of curiosity, did you check your fuses?

yes.
I ended up towing it to a shop.
The guy reprogrammed the original key and the new key.
all is fine.
So is the ecu backup any good in this kind of situation or does the immobilizer have a separate bin file?
i haven't gone through all the threads here to understand how things work in the touareg.
I'd like to get the tools and the software available to debug and repair this kind of stuff myself.
I will get some spare parts to play with but I need help with the tools and software.

Have you worked with genuine VCDS?
Did you enter the number of keys to match WITH the existing key?

Hard to give you advice of you cant say what happened, what engine, which immo version.  Roll Eyes

Genuine vcds.
Car is touareg v6 3.2 7LA 2004.
Immobilizer is immo 3 I guess.
I had only one key. Vcds showed 2 keys before I started the procedure.
I put the original key in, put 2 for two keys in key count and started the matching.
There was a message on the touareg screen then nothing.
I removed the key but when I tried it again there was no lights on the dash.
No light and no odb communication.
I used the rossteck procedure to wake up the odb bus: put new key in, apply the brakes 20 sec but the imm module kept silent.
my question: what do I need to backup other than the ecu to go back in case of problems next time.
The car is working now. The guy reprogrammed it but I was not there so I don't know what he did.
I want to get the tools and soft to be able to  work on the car myself. the immo module is very cheap on ebay, starts at 5$ !!

link to the "immo box" ?

I only know the stearing lock ecu which is a small box.

Immo3 is in the dash as far as i know. This is why you do the key learning within the dash with vcds according to ross tech documentation.

short: you used genuine vcds and your dash was dark? hmm  Undecided

I don't have the history of the car.  when I removed the dash trim I found some broken plastic parts and the touareg seems to have been fiddled with.
I'm now going to get all the components to play with on a bench.
Would a restore of the ecu bin file I took with vag commander have solved the issue?
Or is the immobilizer data stored on the immobilizer?
I even thought the guy just restored the backup bin file I sent him.
I wasn't available when the car was repaired.

This is not the Immo it is part of the alarm system so prevent from being towed away. (some kind of motion sensor)

Your car has immo 3 with just the ecu and dash + key/transponder + coil to read the key

thats it

read the dash
read the ecu

does this mean that backing up the ecu like I did and restoring it would bring the back to life is things fail in the future?
