Hi all Im new to this, but seriously willing to learn how it works, how maps are made etc. I found a few changes (i dont know if they the right locations or not) from comparing the remap on my car to an original file in Winols. The car is a 1999 AGU 1.8T with a good few mods to it, but I just want to learn the basics at the minute and find myself the maps, which I believe are load maps on this ECU. Here is what I found with table sizes. I havent managed to find another Damos or .ols project for the same ECU number I have. I found one for 0261206518, but i dont know how much difference there is between maps. FOr example, I try to make a map for rev limiter and I get a returned value of 10200 which cant be right. Any pointers or useful advice? Chris

FYI, M3.8.x ECU don't have rpm limiters tables or constants filled with data as direct rpm values. RPM limit is calculated indirectly.

That will explain the silly value i ended up at!
Im fairly certain, by reading a lot, that there is no damos files for me3.8 kicking about and that the ME5.92 (i think) A3 1.8T file is about 80% similar with the maps.
Like I said, im very new to all of this, but really willing to learn and get my head around things, but ideally I need assistance with what map pack I can use in winols to help me locate the maps in my AGU me3.8.3 file. I have a incline that I can use the ME5.9.2 map file to assist me finding maps, and their fixes but I dont want to be running up the wrong tree.

M3.8.2 has full dams avail, M3.8.3 is very similar. You don't need OLS, you need a hex editor, and understanding how motronic's map lookup works. Read www.motronic.ws for starters. If you can't find all maps following this method, then just forget it and pay someone to tune it.

Had a look over that site, and will be reading about hex a bit more....I did some in uni for networking but I imagine its a whole new ball game with ECU's
I cant help but think that that site is a bit old for the ECU I have.....It seems based a LOT around ME1.2 and ME3.1.

" Im fairly certain, by reading a lot, that there is no damos files for me3.8 kicking about " -> yes there are, only not M3.8.3's " and that the ME5.92 (i think) A3 1.8T file is about 80% similar with the maps" -> yes, true. Tho no public damos'es avail like m3.8.2... Take the latest .ols project / damos-import of a M3.8.2 and you can identify a LOT of imporant maps 1:1 with a M3.8.3-file. It costs a bit of time... But that will be WELL spend !

Someone should just make a 3.8.2 damos haha Will have to have a sit down at home and get a hex editor out and work through some maps. I guess you can just start from the beginning of the hex dump and see what you can work out? Although I cant imagine that will reveal everything. Lots more reading to do!

Hi, The ecu you have is the 06A906018CG and most likely rev D02 as of software. Something to have a look at is the projectfile underneath my post. Made quickly a projectfile that includes a lot. Don't ask me to translate. No time for that now. And errors in it, are FREE I hope people can have a look and tell me what the last undefined 16x16 map is. A friend of me is busy with the 06A906018CG, but he's not really putting big efford in it yet. If that's done, it might also be posted. This project is a 06A906018R - D03 - 0261204673 - 1037358109 - M3.8.3 Have fun with it. Cheers, PvL

Thanks for the file Should keep me occupied for quite a while when I can understand the basics. Ive been reading through the motronic.ws link above and looking at the following page: http://motronic.ws/map201.htm on example #2. I know how each axis is defined, and how big it is using the example. In the example case 0A = 10. However, im struggling to see how the RPM values are worked out with the formula. I managed to work out the 256 last RPM to get the right figure (although it was 255 to get 2960) I cant see where the 'C' numbers come into it, and which one is used to take away from the RPM hex value, before being multiplied by 40. Even working backwards leaves me stranded and the instructions about the rows and subtraction aint making much sense at the minute. Soon as I can work out where the 'C' numbers are coming from in the calculation, I'll understand the RPM scale. Chris

read-out immochip with monoscan, and reflash the flasrom of the R-ecu, and you have a GENUINE cloned CG ecu. Cheers

yep,
Be quick as hell, and quickly click on the right buttons, and you will manage within 30secs to click read (eeprom) and click save. Try it a few times, and you will succeed. I managed, so i guess you also can....
Sadly we cannot write the dump back via obd... so that will have to happen via a cheap@$$ willemprogrammer (the V5.x version works a treat on these little 24c02 chips, eproms, and flashroms. Tried them all out, myselfe) use a SOIC8 to dip ZIF adapter and all will work-out o.k.
The flashrom is flashable via MPPS V12... ebay is your best bet for that... Don't fall for the V13 crap.. it's FAKE. Only V16 is a real update.
Cheers,
PvL
