Hello,

I have currently a Bosch 7.8.1 HW (from Porsche 987 or 997 )  and I would like to load the sw from a Porsche 996 tt on it.

The  older ME7.8 is very similar to the newer Me7.8.1 HW.  (newer ME7.8.1 has an empty socket for a Bosch IC30344 you can solder in)
Most pin connectors are identical (ignition coils and EV and most other sensors).

Both have the Siemens 80166 processor.

Will it be possible to load the 996tt code onto the Bosch 7.8.1 Hardware? (Ok , with Galletto will load, but:
Will it run there ?

Open questions are:

24 MHZ against 40 MHZ. cpu:  I would need to access the SY_FREQCPU constant (and a few related fields).  Known?

5p08 EEPROM access:   Epprom data structure is identical in several areas, but not everywhere.  Will the older ME7.8 pass the security codes on the CAN bus ?

IDA questions:  I am just a newcomer here. Could someone give me a hint to a correct C167 ROM file, or is this contained in a certain (32K ?) area in the flash. If yes , where?

Would be very happy to get some advice to startup quicker.
Will share my results here.

Thank you
andre

Short answer no.
Instead maybe explain what you are trying to accomplish.

Have a Porsche Cayman with bi turbo setup.   Running fine for several years with 987S mapped ecu, but occasionally I get DTC from the torque monitor which are caused by the charged air column inertia.   ECU goes in limp mode then and needs to be reset with Durametric or Piwis.

Would like to add N75 support and possibly all the 996tt support (wide band lambda...) into the ECU.

Where do you see the biggest problems?

Would it be easier to start from a 996tt ECU and then modify the 5p08 eeprom to get the PAS security up and running?

Have to correct:
I am interested to interchange a ME7.8 from a 996tt with a ME7.8 from a 987 or 997 NA car.
NOT interested in 997tt

So just swap the ECU and kill or adapt the immobilizer.

+1 to what prj said.

Immo is relatively easy to delete on these.
Check public 7.8 A2L and look for "WFS" routines.
Basically it's starter lockout, fuel pump lock and spark IIRC.

Could be relatively easy to adapt it as well, but never researched that.

Is it really as easy as zeroing CDKWFS? or maybe CDTWFS? both are listed as immo codewords
