Hi folks,

In a bit of a pickle looking at a friends car... Leon 1.8t, it has an intermittent issue whereby it will cut out and not start for a length of time, or there's a large misfire followed by an EPC light and crappy driving.

I've managed to log the point at where the issue happened recently and can see that various sensors (maf/pressure/etc.) actually flatline for a moment, rpm blips to -300 and then runs fine (albeit with crappy response) again with a very erratic cam position.

We've replaced the camshaft and crankshaft sensors, checked various earths, continuities, ecu plugs, etc. and getting to the point that there's not much more to check, apart from replacing the entire loom/ecu.

Current codes (it won't start at all atm) are no signal from the crank and camshaft sensors, despite having been replaced.

Any ever had an ecu die or any other issues that cause some of these symptoms?

Any extra ideas/opinions will be greatly welcomed!

ETA: Solved!

Issue happened to be a bad replacement crankshaft sensor!

Thanks Nyet, I tried a second new crank sensor today (it was all pointing towards that again anyway) and the bloody thing now works fine! I guess it just shows that in rare occasions, new parts can be faulty too...

I've torn that car apart over the last few days too!

Just to remind people, that don't ever install crappy 3rd party components.
Either new original, or original manufacturer part. Don't know if this was the case here though.

One time I scoped crank G28 signal from aftermarket crappy sensor and signal amplitude was about half of original part.
Just as an example.

It wasn't a genuine one from a dealer, though it was a Delphi (is OEM Febi? I can't remember). I think it was just a case of sods law!
