Sorry, I was probably being A nob there  Roll Eyes. It's hard to know who's tune it is because most likely it will be protected from being read out over OBD. That will stop you scanning the file for any ID text.

You could dump it in boot mode but it's a PITA because you'll have to pull the ECU and even then there might be no clear ID in the file.

I imagine if you're a seasoned tuner you could recognise features of the big commercial tunes, but the standard generic tunes could originate from anywhere.

Sometimes they leave 'spam' in their files, so one knows where the file originated off

Finding the company is usually easy, look towards the bottom of the file.

One of my ECU's has:
Revision Date 12 JUL 2001  **** Code Changes Copyright (c) 2001 Audi Performance And Racing ****

another:
EVC.EVC  GIAC_noserialÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿSuperchips  GIAC_noserialÿÿÿÿÿÿÿSuperChips  GIAC_noserialÿÿÿÿÿÿÿSUPERCHIPS  GIACNOREAD

On those, they dont list WHAT they are, But they list WHO they are.

cheapest way : kwp2000+ interface, ME7edition software (free on the net findable), benchflash-harness. This one will NOT be readable via the obd2-plug with
kwp2000+ or galletto. No bootmode required with kwp2000+ if you use ME7flasher.  Galletto = ecu open, on bench, with benchflashcable AND bootmode (more
work).

Best option : MPPS. Reads via obd2. Ifnot, bootmode ALSO availabe !   Cheap, quick, good. No messing around.

Can't see why galletto is so hyped everywhere..  Most have BIG problems with it, and screw their ecu up with it.

Anyways, time to invest smartly (mpps), or ask a mate Wink

Cheers,

PvL
