Hi guys,

I'm creating new topic to ask if somebody has installed dsg dq250 for instance or any other dsg with 1.8t me 7.5. I know that they communicate with CAN but don't know if ecu from 1.8t has functions which can work with dsg. Maybe there is any piggy that can help with it? Correct me if I'm wrong but VR6 from 8p has me 7.1.1 with dsg.

Of course it has. There is no difference for the ECU if it's DSG or normal automatic gearbox or even ESP.

Revlimit ECU tuning

From my experience and the 2 VAG 1.8T that we are converting to DSG, only with ME7.5 Automatic versions from Golf 4 GTi we could make the DSG working and recognize/accept the coding it to the ECU

With any other ME7 version no results, no coding, nothing!

There are two problems with this:
1. On a manual car the ECU does not even parse the automatic gearbox messages, torque intervention not possible and a lot of other things, unless you change a LOT of labels.
2. On automatic because it expects a torque converter the idle control and the friction torque is off.

I think it is much easier to fix 2. than 1.
I know how to fix 1. only because I developed RS6 C5 manual gearbox conversion software, and I needed to go through all the changes to make the ECU behave like a manual one incl. communications with ABS/ESP.
Would not recommend going through it.

But really if you know enough about CAN communication between ECU and TCU, then you can use any software version. There are no compile changes between them, it's all in calibration.

What challenges/difficulties did you encounter? Using an automatic binary?

ECU coding can be changed via 95040 EEprom, also pairing with Flash you need to modify VARDEF.

Bring this back due to how easy/cheap it is to obtain a DSG swap.

I wanted to confirm auto vs manual is only config or is a compiled difference. My experience is that longitudinal (A4/Passats) are config only. However, transverse (GTi,Jetta,TT) are complied.
Can anyone confirm this?

As for calibration changes needed for compensating for dual clutch vs torque convertor would be nice to know.
I believe this is in MDWAN. Unfortunately, all of my disassembly time (personal only) is on manual files. I've not bothered reversing a transverse auto file and locating MDWAN maps.

Starting with my personal 4bar converted 06A906032HS file and moving to a 06A906032HF 0006 tiptronic file. I hope no auto related maps reference MAP pressure based variables.

Is there anything to be done to MKBRMXWP in MDBGRG ? (maybe related to launch control?)

Hello,
recently i've done dsg swap to my a3 8L 1.8t fwd me7.5 ofc DBW wideband - my2003.
I want to know what else i need to do.

checked measuring block 125 on both TCU and ECU and saw this:
- ecu didn't see gearbox tcu
- tcu sees ecu

the point is - what i need to do to make ecu talking with gearbox tcu.
alredy tried soft coding - even entered skc - not working, coding stays at 11500 - factory value

can anyone help?

Number/soft of your ECU is?

06a906032HJ 0002, coding 11500

use 06A906032HF with HJ definition
code it to 07550

is 032hf compatible with 07550 coding ?
Tried coding mine 032hj to 11550 and nothing happens - ecu didn't accept coding

EDIT:
checked!
pusched 032hf 0005 to my 032hj 0002 ecu - works!
entered SKC and changed coding to 07550 - works!

now ecu sees gearbox

must move my custom tune to new file...

EDIT2:

Thank you fukenbroken, everything works well, additional need only to remove diagnosis from EVAP Leak Detection pump which i assume EU cars don't have

can you describe what changed while driving?
how does the ecu/tcu behave before and after?

just to get a better understanding

thx

I believe that clutch is less slipping after that, but for now i still have stock DSG software without tune - car have about 400 nm of torque,
DTC about wrong coding from ECU and ABS gone,
Shiftpoints are more accurate to situation,
Car pulls to about 5300 rpm - diesel gearbox and stock tcu software - before it shifts about 4700 rpm
