i have med17.5.2 that  is tp20 and it has tuning protection lock. i have flex and i can bench read it, but i was wondering if there a was away that it can be unlocked to get a real read with cmd instead of vw and be able to flash it odb while tuning it instead of bench flashing every time

Also to answer your question. Post ecu info. I might have a stock file that you can flash in bench mode with tprot off. So you can flash through obd2. Also if you have flex magpro  have free tprot removal tool on the website.

MPPS, Kess, PCMflash and i think other tools can do obd-unlock for tp20 ecu. Magic is not so magic for these ecu...

Can you share file. And yes I have flex master and bench read and write on bench no problem.  I'd just like to use cmd after its unlocked.

Flex can do MED17.5.25 via obd VR.
Also if you have Flex you have x17?

both ecus you listed are uds. this is why flex is able to work via obd.

17.5.2 is tp20 protocol and magic, after all these years, still never released a tp20 patch other than the 2 byte 00 00 method in BL.

No this med17.5.2 is a tp20. And I have flex unit with odb+bench and cmdflash-obd. I have read 2 med17.5.2 tp20 via boot on bench with out opening. And cmd wants to give a vr that is the reason I'm woundering if there is away to patch it so cmd will give a real read and also start after tuning file is flashed

Bench is not OBD, also flex at the moment does not have any OBD protocols.

They just released the first batch of odb protocol. Only dose some vags and bmw. But I just want to patch the tp20 ecu with flex to allow me to use cmdflash-obd after the first read

tfsikiller this is the one i would like tropt off i was able to read it with flex bench but when i try to read it with cmd it will only give me a VR

Kess can´t write modded files to Jetta, Passat or Tiguan with MED17.5.2... error in CKS when finishinf write, you have to recover with original file.

My friend tried with MPPS V18 and CMD and was a no go too

my original Dimtronic Flashpro (AFAIK is kind of a Magic X17 clone like Kess x New Genius) didnt work either.

but New beetle with MED17.5.2 can be done with Kess (original ones)

i was told from the dev team of cmd that if it is tp7 and above then a mod file flashed to the car will not start the car and i did test that. and the car did not start. i use flex on tp7 and above and the mod file and was able to get the car started.  i am looking for away to patch it so i can use my cmd to read and write the files while tuning instead of pulling the ecu every time.
