You don't need one. All the original files are posted online and you can write via OBD with MPPS.

I know that I have to desolder, but how do I read the data from the chip? That is the question . You don't need one. All the original files are posted online and you can write via OBD with MPPS.
I think I have read that you can not write the 3.8.2 over obd? Is this really possible with Mpps, since I already have Mpps I could write it without additional information.

I mean the ECU file. the bin file that one reads from the control unit and optimizes. As already mentioned, I have already read that you can write the m3.8.3 via mpps, but to my knowledge you cannot write the m3.8.2 via mpps.

look a few posts above I have already read this post, but as I said, I only ever read that you can flash the m3.8.3 via obd and the m3.8.2 not via obd but that you have to unsolder the chip. but if you say that, I'll give it a try what do I have to consider? how to put a pin on 12v with the m3.8.3?

the eeprom is most likely a 24c02 and you need a chip burner with a soic8 adapter and for the flash odds are its a psop44. flash should be in a socket easy pop out and rewrite with a chip like m28f102

Ah sorry, M3.8.2.
Just get a M3.8.3 from AGU and put that instead if you want to practice tuning it. They cost peanuts, and it's totally plug and play. Immo can be adapted with VCDS without needing any PIN code also.
Then you can flash ECU via OBD... It's basically exactly the same, except they put a 29F200 in there to allow it to be OBD reflashable. A M5.9.2 will work too, same ECU.

I think I should do that too, but I read that you can change the chip from 3.8.2 so that it can be flashed via obd. can you replace the chip in 3.8.2 with one from 3.8.3? if so what kind of chip would be suitable for it? then I could buy a new chip from the electric store and flash it and solder it to the control unit. then you should also be able to flash about obd right?

Okey. could I then flash my ECU file from m3.8.2, which has already been optimized, onto the m3.8.3 or does it have to be optimized again?
