I assume by now tuning has made some inroads towards using flexfuel sensor on 1.8T?
Or is standalone the only 'real' possible way to use flex fuel?

I sorted it out for ME7.9.10, so not really 1.8T, but still... How exactly is described here:

I don't have it in use at the moment at all, because E85 in my country is expensive relative to regular 95/98, and for me economy was more than 50% of the exercise.
