05 A4 B6. I had my cluster and Ecu reflashed. Now it will run in “safe” mode but the lights will flash. I’m having new keys cut for it and the guy can’t seem to read the necessary data from it to program. Any thought on additional steps to program a key.

Thanks.

You can program them with your rosstech cable. IT seems like someone turned off your IMMO but on the B6 A4 it will make the dash flash like you mentioned. Buy the rosstech cable and search their forum for coding keys. its super easy.

Thanks for the reply. Yea the guy wasn’t using VCDS but some proprietary software that wouldn’t work. I have VCDS lite with an eBay cable. Crazy thing is I think it failed last night for whatever reason. I had started the procedure and while I was waiting on the 10 LO to expire in VCDS it disconnected and never got it back. Got a new cable ordered. We’ll see. Thanks again.

Okay so I got my login code and it works on engine but not on instruments. I sent the ecu cluster and key off in this forum and had it all fixed a while back. He mentioned the cluster was fried and had to match another one to it. Is it possible the cluster has a different login?

Here’s what I’ve found out. The cluster that had been replaced is reporting the wrong VIN. I sent everything to k0mpresd here on the forum and he got me back up and running originally but my son lost the only key we had and now can’t program anymore. The login code works for the ecu but not the cluster. The cluster reports a different vin and immo id. Can anyone please help me, I’m out of options!!!

Read the cluster pin and then try to adapt new key - but i think with immo off in ecu it wont work ( i dont remember how it was exaxtly in b6 but i b5/c5 with immo off in ecu you cant adapt new keys with vcds )

Second option is to turn immo on and adapt cluster to ecu ( whole procedure is on rosstech wiki and youtube ) - it will match your cluster vin and immo and then adapt new key

If it wont work you have to adapt the cluster lets say manually writing vin login and immo - but you need some other software/cable to do it - like Vag dash can etc

Thanks for the replies. I hate to sound like a complete idiot, but how do I read the cluster skc?  Then for adaption, just follow the Ross tech wiki and I’m assuming the old cluster pin would be the current ecu pin?

couldn't find 1.19.  I did find eepromtool_04 in the forum.  I apologize for the total lack of knowledge as I'm trying to get this car fixed for my son.  I'm good with computers and have been using VCDS for a while now but really need someone to hold my hand through this process.  Does it matter that the cluster doesn't seemed to be matched to the car to program new keys?  I don't care as long as I can get the keys programmed.  Clearly, I don't understand how it all works. It sounds like i need to:  1).  read eeprom and turn on immo.  2). Log into the cluster and adapt keys however, this is a problem.  I have the skc for the "engine", but not for the cluster.  Normally, wouldn't this be the same?  I guess since it was never adapted, it never took on the login code of the car???  How do I get that?

Here is the .bin of the ECU.  Can anyone assist in getting immo back on and tell me how what software to use to send back to the ecu?  This was pulled from the locksmith when he was trying to program keys and I'm not 100% sure what to use to send it back to the ecu.  His software had a shortcut that would let him turn the immo on and off.  I need it back on to program the new keys.

So I ran vag eeprom 1.19. Select dash and the only selection it’ll read is a Bosch encrypted. Will not read ecu at all. Wonder if I have a Kline problem?  Using blue eBay cable.

Yes but you want to program keys to cluster. And that is program for cluster. No need to touch ECU
