No communication with slave ECU, can't connect to adress 11 in VCDS. Happened after OBD-Flash failed.

I know both ECUs are physically the same.

What about master and slave? Is it just data or/and cable select by the ecu harness as well?
I can see differences in EEPROM and MICRO.

Couldn't find any info on this so far..

Full BDM readout attached

eeprom and micro from master flashed to slave and vice versa - car won't even start, but turning on the fan Tongue

most likely (initial) slave ecu hardware fault

The 2 backups you've posted in the first post are both valid. Your car should run

What is wrong with the slave ecu?

I find it mighty coincidental that the slave ECU packed a sad just because of a bad OBD write. They are always recoverable with BDM/bench restore. Are you sure you didn't copy the dodgy software onto the good ECU?

Also, EEPROM, MPC and Flash are identical on both ECUs. Master/Slave is dictated by wiring.

Invalid statement.
Master/Slave flash is identical, but MPC and eeprom differ significantly.

More accurately, the OBD flashable area is identical.
But yeah, you can't just flip ECU's around on these.

I'm gonna call bullshit on that. I literally just shipped two ECUs back to a customer and the flash + MPC are IDENTICAL. You're welcome to receive the full backups of said ECUs.

EEPROM differences will be down to each ECU storing adaptive values for their prescribed functions.

Given that MED9 master and slave in all the SSPs is documented as wire selection, I'm inclined to lean towards my original statement being factual. The fact the VAG part numbers are identical is testament enough as there's not two different SGOs for master/slave.

Incorrect AF. "6C00" area which in MED9.1.2 is at $2400 in the MPC is unique to each ECU. N00b.

MCU dumps are not identical. They differ in 1024 RSA bytes.
EEPROM differ not only in adaptive values.
Some EEPROM bytes are also configured according to the contents of RSA bytes.
Thus, you need to have a matched pair of MCU+eeprom so that the unit successfully starts work.

Given that MED9 master and slave in all the SSPs is documented as wire selection, I'm inclined to lean towards my original statement being factual. The fact the VAG part numbers are identical is testament enough as there's not two different SGOs for master/slave.

The reason is that there is only one SGO for the master / slave, because the memory area with RSA is not overwritten when updating the ECU firmware

0x2400 is FFville, but thanks for playing.

Yeah my bad, it's 0x2000 not 0x2400, compare your 2 CPUs before pretending like you know it all seen it all when in fact you don't have a clue WTF you're talking about.

I find it mighty coincidental that the slave ECU packed a sad just because of a bad OBD write.

After I realised that the flash failed I started pullin fuses because of the fans. The idea was to try to recover it via obd.

I should have removed the ecu right away for bdm on bench. Most likely it would have worked again.
