i have a 2000 audi a4 1.8t quattro 5 speed atw engine code and had a tune file made for it but every time i would try and flash the file it quits around 50-53% ive tried mpps v13 and nefmoto ecu flash neither of them worked succesfully, after the failed flash the car wont start but i was able to flash my stock file (which also failed at 50 but somehow still worked) and get the car running. long time lurker here first time posting sorry in advance for probably making a fool of myself but ive just tried everything i can get my hands on including all the work arounds and checksum stuff in this forum that i can find im feelin hopeless if anyone can help id appreciate it.

if anyone knows how i can attach files or any of the errors and logs i have saved plz let me know

Are you trying to flash a 1mb file onto a 512kb ECU?

the file i dumped was 1mb along with the tuned file also being the same size, it always fails around 53% and i get something along the lines of “couldn’t erase sector this might be caused by a non stock chip would you like to erase the ecu and try again” so i click yes and it will go back to the same spot it was last time and say “flash programming failed on the current sector”

i will post all my information when i am home, i got a new 512kb file from the guy that made the tune and it flashed 100% but car wouldn’t start so i disconnected the battery and reconnected and then it started but acted like it was the stock tune (launch control etc not working) and then after i shut it it would not start again unless i disconnect the battery and wait a few minutes it starts no problem but acts stock. it’s weird because i also made my own file for a different ecu with the launch control guide here and that works but has the same issue won’t start unless i disconnect the battery and wait then it will start. sorry this is my first time working on one of the b5 me7 ecu

the launch control guide

Sigh. Did you read any of the NLS/LC thread? Even the first page?

im not worried about the other ecu that was just something i was messing with,
my main question is that my tune flased 100% but the car will not run unless i disconnect the battery for a few seconds and then start it and then when it does start it acts like its not even tuned its just normal.

yeah i read it

If you read it you should have abandoned NLS/LC entirely. Unless you know ASM or somebody you can trust, it isn't for you. If that wasn't clear from the thread, I have no idea how to make it more clear.

Especially if you are having issues with things like checksums.
