Ok, so i've got an amu narrowb audi tt 1.8t 225.

i've also got a BEA wideband o2, harness, from another tt.

Can I run the BEA wideb setup and flash it with a tune from the narrowband ecu?

I would like this because I already have some stage1 amu tune lying around.
These would also be good:
ditch the BEA vvt
ditch the BEA egt
keep my new oem (pricey) AMU MAF
keep my AMU stage1 tune

thoughts?

doesnt work like that you cant use a narrowband file on a wideband ecu. the narrowband file is half the size of the wideband to start and would surely result in a bricked ecu if crossed flashed. the ecus have hardware differences (more then what you mentioned mainly wideband lambda / o2). If you want to use the wideband ecu you will need to fit a wideband lambda, delete the vvt, egt, and immo in the tune. youll need to port the injector dead times and injector consistent (narrowband 225 are light blue injectors bea has white injectors close in size but not the same). Dont quote me on it but I think the cooling fans need to be repinned as well between narrowband and wideband (been a few years sense the last swap i did). Also, youll need to disable the immo. If I do recall the mafs read about 15% difference between the wideband and narrowband ecus so youll need to portover the offsets too if that is the case you can easily tell by looking threw the 2 files to confirm. Few other narrowband ecus you can cross flash besides the amu but youll need to use the appropriate eeprom for the applications. Your best bet imo: get another amu same part number as yours. some amu have immo some dont and if you dont flash both eprom and eeprom you may get a no start by active immo from mismatch eeprom / eprom. Best of luck  Wink

Fuck.   Thanx for the info Marty.
I never heard of the cooling fan pinning.
So many nb -wb diy and they never say any of this.

Luckily I got the eeprom tools on here running yesterday so
Immo is a non issue.  Can immo off anything ez now.

Either way this wb project is getting more and more complex. Might just have to find a nb ECU and shelf the project

Seems like a lot of people do wb conversion to their amu tt.
They just plug in the wb ECU and o2 and resistor out the vvt
And they have no problems at all?

Maybe they're just driving around with mismatched maf/injectors and they don't notice anything.

get resistors for egr, sai and whatever other things you delete. then you just run 2 new wires for the wb o2 or if you are going to run mono o2, technically you can just reuse 2 of the wires from the other o2 and just switch them at the ecu plug (it's better if you just run them for reversibility sake). you'll have to edit the ecu eskonf and remove vvt and set associated codeword to 0, but if you didn't add wires for it or change the harness, there won't be anything to resistor. You have to break some little pieces of plastic inside the plug near the pins to allow the connector to fully seat, be careful and use an exacto knife or something. Then you have to remove or clip one wire to keep the fans from running high constantly.

I did my 180q to wideband on the cheap last year and it runs great, only issue is my cc won't work but that's either because i'm a novice at me7.5 or the ecu doesn't like how i have it coded since they never made a quattro k03 TT after 2001. I got a few 30 dollar passat ecu's off ebay that I ran on for awhile but I eventually purchased a wideband TT FWD ecu; the passat/jetta ecu's worked fine but it sounded like the haldex precharge pump was stuck on or something, the TT ecu does not do that but I still have functioning AWD.

Thanks, that's great advice. I'll probably just keep my front nb o2, and replace the rear nb o2 with a wb o2.

So am I hearing right that even if you code things out, then you'll still need to resistor stuff as well?

question about the wb ecu's.
What do people do when they already have a tune and then switch to wb?
Do you have to start from scratch entirely, or is there some way to convert your nb tune over to wb?  Perhaps copy the tuning (fuel/boost/ign, etc) values over to the wb ecu bin flash?

Sorry I know these are very nooby questions.

Also about eeprom/immo. I think I've got that well sorted now. me7check, and me7eeprom and I can sort any eeprom flawlessly!
