I have just got my new OLS300 simulator and now looking for the solution the run the map with checksum switched off.

I have been looking into this a little and have read the chk can be switched on/off in the EEprom?

Anyone running an ols300 on vag ecus?

Cheers

Have a look at "APP URROM", page 3974 of the "MED9.1 Funktionsrahmen" document.

Set CW_NOROMCHKRESET in flash to hex55, and you will have no trouble with checksums... Wink
In the FR it is documented as CW_NOROMDATACHKRESET, but it means the same.

Is CW_NOROMCHKRESET set to 0 (default), the APP URROM routine will check all checksums.

In the ME7.1 function sheet it is not documented, but it is equal on all ME7x/ME9x and works fine.

Hello Tom,

Thats an awesome reply dude.... Wink   I think once the kids go bed I will get my MED9 PDF out and have a good read.

I have been playing with ols today on a 018BH Audi BAM and it was working with the stock eeprom and just using the plug-in chk on Winols, it seemed to be working 100% find and making real time changes on the fly.  I did mess up the eeprom twice during start up, but I took an copy of that before i started as I had read stories in the past where tuners got caught out.

I was looking forward to tuning the car to day, but the dog bone fell out during a power run, so I spent all day looking at the map traces at idel..lol

Thanks again

I actually found this " CW_NOROMCHKRESET" in my bin the other day, never thought to look past the me7 doc for answers. I did come across this thread though.

Just more in detail...

For tuners who are doing old stuff all the time like me, M3.8 ME7.1 ME7.5 EDC15 then its a must have tool, 90% of my work now is just custom dyno tuning for hybrid and big turbos on 1.8T & 1.9TDI.  I can see the ols300 saving me no end of time and in theory the quality of my work should be much more refined.

I think the ols300 is going to help me learn even more about the map structure of ME7 by just using the map trace option.

Nick,

I assume the trace feature is very similar to megasquirt if you've ever used it? In so much you can choose the map you wish to analyse at as the car is run through the Rpm range see which points are actually been used at different load points? I know when I used to use this I found it so much easier to see where +/- needed to be made and to individual points on the map, and rather than guessing where say degrees needed to be taken off you could pin point .

Can you make changes to the maps in real time or do you have change and reflash each time?

I have seen some really cool videos of guys tuning Porsche with it.

In the thread posted above, Tony mentioned one day to build programming to do this. I know that day is far, but at least there's hope for us hobbyists...

For hobby use, just use the Moates Roadrunner.
It's about 500$ and works with TunerPro.

Back on topic, the information from the thread at the following URL seems to suggest that you must also patch a few calls to actually disable checksums:
http://nefariousmotorsports.com/forum/index.php?topic=274.msg1470#msg1469

Am I missing something?

Here you can see "pages" 1 and 2. I'm assuming replace 69, C1, and A5 with 8E, 5A, and D2. This picture was posted by "k0mpressed". I have not tested any of this yet.

What you posted is for disabling 95040 checksums.  We're talking specifically about disabling checksums on the full 1MB flash.
