Hello,

I recently swapped the cluster in my Audi TT 8N from 1999 with a cluster made in 1998. I read the EEPROM and got the PIN so the immobelizer now works, but I cant get the mileage to work.. it shows 40k kms less then what it was. Tools I used is VAG Tacho and VCDS. I found something about a checksum thats protecting the mileage, and if done incorrectly the mileage could show 999999 or DEF error?

Can someone help me how to fix this issue? Before I sold my old cluster I tried to read the EEPROM, but it has some garbage data at the end. Ill attach both new and old cluster EEPROM.

I did drove the car in the meantime since its my daily. If thats an issue Id like to hear.

I just use VAGeeprom programmer for this purpose.

I have tried VAG EEPPROM Programmar 1.19 but its not working, the mileage does not change, even after the battery disconnect. Its a MM cluster

Checked the software again, now it shows in VAG Programmer that it has 800K+ km’s, but the cluster still shows normal mileage. Im a little hot afraid of using that program again in case it does go worse

I don’t think your story adds up quite well.  Why on earth would you part or sell the original cluster?  That makes no sense. Especially since there are so many YouTube videos explaining how to fix it.  Sounds kinda hokey.

The cluster has allready been swapped when I bought the car. The clusters are known for the MCU chip to fail, they go bad and need to be replaced. I had the chance to get a other cluster for €50. To repair it, it would have cost me at least €250. Plus everything is
now working except the mileage.
