So wanted to purchase a 03' VW "New Beetle" and i go to meet the guy and the owner told me that it has been sitting for a year or so and that it drove just fine when he parked the car. Well i try starting it and of course its dead. So i get a freshly charged battery and swap it out. I Try starting it and it starts up just fine for 1 second and then dies. Sounds like an immo problem. there is the "car outline with key symbol" that's on the dash/cluster/speedo. Its solid though, not flashing. Not sure if that's all the info someone needs to help me out.
What i have done:

-New Battery.
-Taken both pos and neg  battery cables off battery and touched them together for 15+ seconds to reset ecu
-ran a diagnostic on VCDS i can post if needed? Only could communicate with the 01;Engine Module unfortunately. I cannot for the life of me remember if its a 2.0L or a 2.5L engine

its looks like the  ECM connectors and the ECM Power Relay or the fuse panel got corrosion you have to check them all , its happened to me before one day my audi a4 b6 won't start at all so i did scanned with vagcom got the  - ECM Power Relay Control Circuit fault code i found the ecu wiring harnesses connectors and the ecm relay soaked in water i dried all wires and changed the ecm relay  and the car started again
