Hey,

I got a friend that swapped from multitronic to manual on a A4 1.8T B6 - the mechanical part was successful, but the car doesn't start (don't even crank).

I tried to help him by coding through VCDS, but it keeps sending error 31 because the ECU doesn't accept the 5MT parameter.

By researching on some forums and through here in NefMoto, an ECU reflash using the 5MT SW could solve the problem.

Some questions that are not very clear:

* Do we need to do a physical jump over the Neutral/Park relay or the reflash using a 5MT map would solve it?

* The ECU code is 8E0909518Q - the 8E0909518AK ECU would allow me to code through VCDS with no problem, but it isn't available here in Brazil.

* Do you know if the 8E0909518Q (suffix -Q) allow me to reflash with another map (5MT) to solve the problem?

(I still could not check the SW versions, but will update here soon)

Thanks in advance Smiley

I'm not sure why it won't start. I'm mostly clueless on auto's. I am sure you can flash a manual transmission file on there, which is what I would start with.

Just find one from the same engine and mostly same year etc but manual

Hmmm, that is a good start. Do I need to worry about the immo if using a manual .bin file from another car/ecu?

- Bridge the park/neutral relay (this is why it doesn't crank)
- Reflash ecu with manual software
- Add switch to clutch pedal and wire it to ecu
- Wire up backup light switch from gearbox
- Recode instrument cluster and abs to manual
Should be it for electrical side of the swap.  Roll Eyes

Did you place the file using nefmoto itself?

If the car is a 2002 the 518ak is not compatible, ecu clock speed is not the same. Try the 518F, that should be the one you want if its a 2002
