from what i've read, it sounds like I should be able to run e85 with barely any modifications?

Just a light KRKTE adjustment,  pour in the e85, and fine tune the lambda readings (maybe a little LAMFA and FKKVS) and I can then run higher timing??

Am I missing something or is it really that simple?

I have 1.8t, wb 02 swap. 440cc inj.  265lph pump. 4bar fpr.

Your over simplification is extremely concerning. With this approach you'll for sure melt something or toss a rod out the side of the block. Try actually doing some real research and understand what is happening when you change fuels. You will be able to answer your own questions...
