I have a mk6 golf R (Bosch MED9.1).

Recently I replaced the original MAF sensor with another OEM sensor, which comes in Audi TTS (8J). Unsurprisingly I get a CEL and this DTC: http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/16484/P0100/000256

How do I fix this? Should I use the full Audi TTS software or is it enough to just change the MAF table in my original ECU?

(MAF sensor is brand new, so I'm ruling out the possibility of a faulty sensor)

Check wiring first, its different. Fix HFM curve in Software...

Wiring was triple checked. For both of these engines the pin assignments on the sensor are identical. However the Audi MAF causes the CEL.

I'm just wondering if changing the curve would help at all.

How so? I used the wiring diagrams from ELSA to confirm.

As you can see 6R has 3/5 pins

TTS has 4/5 pins

Yeah, I noticed that after posting the diagram. For some reason I assumed that TTS MAF also uses 3wire version.

By the way, should I try and get the signal ground (pin2)  from ECU as the TTS wiring indicates? What would be the benefits of that?

Okay, I swapped the pins, and the CEL is gone. Obviously the car won't idle now because of different MAF characteristics.

Can I "transplant" a MAF curve from stock TTS software? I have  a BDM programmer, and no experience in modifying mappings.

And if you have no clue WTF you are doing software wise, why would you fit a different MAF on it in the first place?

I swapped the MAF, because I wanted to upgrade the air filter, as it is quite restrictive in mk6R's. I dislike aftermarket parts, so I chose the seemingly best flowing OEM intake (TTRS airbox, and TTS turbo intake pipe). To avoid using some aftermarket MAF housing, I figured I could swap in the TTS MAF, since the engine is more or less the same in both cars.

I knew that the MAF curve would likely differ, but both cars having the same engine and ECU (hardware-wise) gave me the confidence to try and figure out the software adjustment after I'm done with the peripherals.

So, is copying over the curve in question from TTS software into mine going to be enough?
