I can't currently spend the $200 on a Ross Tech cable but want to COMPLETELY learn my ME7.5 and VCDS. I understand that I will not be able to code anything with the $10 kit but want to understand all the nomenclature. So will I be able to have all the viewable access as the real deal Ross Tech or will I be limited to viewing all the content?

One person said he was only able to use the lite version of VCDS. Can someone verify? It's not about whether it will work but the level of access that I will have.

You will not get proper access. you need a cheap clone cable with the corresponding version to learn it. That's when I started, too, and that's how I learned. it always worked and got me further in many votes.

Hey, I appreciate the quick response. It indeed looks like a clone, unlike the transparent blue cable version. So is this all I will need? It looks like it already comes with the CD.

In other words, with the cable you suggested will I need to get software from elsewhere or can I just use what's included? I can see that there are different interfacing softwares you can use like me7logger, OBDeleven etc. I have no idea where to start other than the standard VCDS.

yes, the software is included and it works like the original. But you have to use the software that comes with it, otherwise the doungle will be speared. have fun with it and learn Wink

Hopefully it does work as you guys claim it will. I'm only looking to learn the software for now so I hope I can access everything I need to see.

I always used one from AE. The license did once got revoked, that is due to connection to wifi. You cant use the internet when using one of these cables.

If it does get revoked, you can contact the seller, they will provide software to reflash the VCDS Cable.

besides that, I use a MPPS V18 cable for flashing/reading/checksum. And a KKL VAG COM 409.1 with FT232RL driver for datalogging with ME7Logger

I'm guessing FT232RL is the Driver and FTDI is the name of the chip right?

I'm buying the one in the link below. It looks exactly the same as Ross Tech so I'm guessing it will work
