You should just use 8e0-909-518ak. i use 4b0906018-dh, and 018dn ecus with the 518ak bin. Any awm passat ecu will work with 518ak. This is probably the biggest definition youll find for it. it includes a 5120 patch, a mafless patch (alpha-n cruise control), lean burn lambda parameter, and pretty much everything else youll ever need. |

Im pretty sure you dont need to change the eeprom, just use the one on the ecu currently. If you have an issue then assume i was wrong and ill send you the 518ak eeprom. |

I modded the file for Cat and SAI delete but in the ESKONF there is config 1 and config 2 i changed both should i only be touching config 1?
I ran the modded file and got these codes wondering if anyone has run into this and if the config 2 could have caused this... this is running the 518AK bin on the 018 DN Ecu
also im going to try just the stock 518ak bin to see if its me causing it or the different bin starts and runs fine just throws these codes but no MIL
any help is appreciated
17700 - map controlled engine thermostat (F265)
P1292 - 004 - Open Circuit
18043 - Powertrain Data Bus
P1635 -008 Missing Message from A/C Controller
18107 - Powertrain Data Bus
P1699 - 008 Missing Messages from Steering Wheel Electronics

They are not a 100% compatible. B6 has can based cruise control and ecu controlled fans while the b5 passat does not. Also, the b6 has returnless fueling and the passat does not, so your fuel trims will be off a bit. Personally I would not cross flash as they are not completely compatible. However, the definition from the 518ak can be used with the 018dn file, the calibration maps have the same or really close to the same offsets. Actually all 03-05 passat and a4 have close to the same offsets and calibrations aside from car specific differences.

I just wanna say that my mafless cruise control works on my 018dn ecu in my '04 a4. Cant say anything for the fans because i converted to b5 cooling sys and fan clutch. |

Have you tested and verified the fans wont operate in a b6 a4 or if the cruise control wont work in a passat?
For a passat i dont see any harm in turning off some error codes for the fans or whatever else. The fuel pressure compensation map can be adjusted for the return system by setting it to 1's for a passat. Unless theres actually problems with things not working i think its worth it to use the 518ak bin since the xdf is so well defined. Adjusting the bin for your car would take a lot less time than making a whole other xdf and 5120 hack for a passat bin.

Those are just things that the b6 a4 has and the passat doesnt. You can just turn off the error classes for those, i know i have the thermostat error classes defined. You gotta set the fuel pressure compensation map to 1s. I could be totally wrong and the 518ak ecu might just cause function problems and if thats the case im sorry. I have a b6 a4 so i wouldnt know. Im pretty sure you only change the config 1 in eskonf. I could be wrong. Im basically a noob, so pretty much everything i say might need fact checked lmao |

But you are using a 518ak file on a passat ecu right? The passat ecus are the same at a hardware level. The cruise control will not work with a b5 passat that has stalk control for cruse, the signals are not the same if it has a b6 file on it. If you use a b5 passat file on a 03-05 a4 the fans will run forever and not shut off untill you unhook the battery. Ive done this more times than I can recall and its all the same outcome. |

It seems the xdf does overlay on the 018 dn so i am going to try that next with eskonf config 1 set only , been comparing locations and i think everything i need is lining up properly im also going to attempt to manually read the xdf and enter it into winols to create a damos unless someone already has done this ?
Good to know these files are different that being said it actually ran fine idle was right on just the three codes.
i will run my 018 DN Mod file and let you know what happens.

Maybe this will help. Its a passat bin and this is a decent sized definition. 018dp and dq are the same thing im pretty sure
