I have searched and read every thread I can find on the subject and the answer is always "you're better off starting from scratch" which I understand and absolutely agree with.

However, the only thing I want to do with this file is code out the rear o2's. I have a 2001 S4 Stage 3 with AWE fueling, MAF, and bosch ~440cc "green giants". It includes a fully loaded ECU with 5 programs, switchable through their flashloader handheld, and electronic boost controller.

I realize I will maybe (or probably) need to read the file in boot mode with a Galletto cable. But will the tunerpro plugin or winols actually fix the GIAC checksums properly?

Assuming I can find the correct maps that is. Anyone know if GIAC uses compression like APR in order to fit all of the programs? I guess there really is only one way to find out huh?...

Great site by the way, I would really like to get into this soon since I want to add meth injection at some point and AWE/GIAC told me there is nothing they can do for me to add it to the tune. I wanted to drive to AWE in PA and have them do a custom tune on the dyno and they wont even do that. Thanks for your help.

Okay, I will try it tonight with my ebay VAG cable, even though it is unlikely it will work. I'll order the Galletto right now since I'm bound to need it eventually, and it will take forever to arrive.

ive edited giac tunes. i forget how i did it exactly but i somehow tricked winols in to doing it for me.
well, newer tunes i mean. older tunes, say tunes read from an encryption board or early flashes can be edited no problem.

okay, cool. I have to pull the ECU cover to see what is in there. to my knowledge, it is a flash and not a chip/encryption board, that the previous owner of the car bought second hand in 2009. I wouldn't consider that "early", right?

i think he had a problem with the o2 sensor shorting resulting in "no activity" code or something like that, and shipped the ECU back to GIAC to have the file transferred to a new ECU. thats all i know about it
