Hi,

I've swapped a DQ250 into my car and am using the 032HF base software. So far the car drives ok, but there is a decent delay between requesting a downshift and the ECU/TCU actually performing it. I've some errors in ABS module and TCU which i think may be the cause, but am unsure what the solution could be.

01044 - Control Module Incorrectly Coded
            35-00 - -

I have just changed the coding in the can gateway to automatic transmission and the 01044 code is gone (at least for now) The car runs Bosch ESP8.0 abs which I wonder if is not compatible with the 032HF software version.

A few things maybe worth mentioning

- CWGGVFZG is set to 2 for vehicle speed over CAN, orig manual software was like this too.
- I have not yet adjusted all of the NVQUOT maps to reflect the new gear ratios (not sure how much influence this will have on downshifts, but will update those ASAP)
- The stock software my car runs has CANVERS set to 12, which seems to be a later CANVERS than the MK4 032HF software (Can i just change this to 12 in the 032HF software, I'm not actually sure what changing that does to the operation of the ECU)
- 01314 - Engine Control Module  004 - No Signal/Communication - Intermittent, Is this fault something that i may need to adjust within CW_CAN_S in the ECU?

Lots of questions, not expecting answers to all of them but if someone could give me a nudge in the right direction it'd be much appreciated.

Check Block 125 in the TCU
in a ideal environment you should see engine, abs, cluster and shifter all 4 present

Same 125 block in the ECU
you should see gearbox, abs and cluster installed

try to power off the abs and check the behaviour of the shifts without abs

Thanks -

Transmission, ABS and Instruments seem present in block 125 in the ECU measuring blocks

In TCU everything looks ok too. I'll remove ABS fuses and take it for a spin. If pulling the ABS fuses sorts it, would this indicate that there's some info the ABS isn't getting from the ECU?

I don't think this ABS unit has been fitted to a MK4 golf which is what made me wonder about the differing CANVERS settings

Unplugged the ABS fuse this evening - which didn't seem to improve the downshifts at all, powered it back up and cleared the faults afterwards.

Have looked through the modules and it seems the ABS does not see the TCU, but the TCU seems to recognise the ABS.

TCU looks like its not entirely happy with the CAN gateway either

When on VCDS, if I click coding within the ABS module no window pops up with a coding guide, so not sure if I can change it to automatic

Your car is Polo 9n3 like your username?
I can only tell about Mk4 where the cluster is basically the minigateway for can which you dont need.
There are cars out there running 1.8t me7 + dq250 + shifter in a mk1 chassis without cluster, gateway or abs.

Does the torque reported from the ecu in block 120 match with the tcu torque?

Maybe you can re-wire and isolate the ecu+tcu+shifter from the rest of the canbus just for a test?

Is this delay much bigger than any stock dsg car?

Your issue is probably due to the 032HF software not revmatching on downshift.
So its just slipping the clutch to rev the engine.
As far as i know the only software for ME7 that revmatches on downshift is for the VR6.

Pretty sure the reported torque from ECU is the same as TCU but I will confirm that too

Yeah I’d say definitely, I have a diesel with DQ250 factory fitted and when I downshift in tiptronic it’s almost instantaneous.

There’s a definite delay between tapping the shifter and it actually performing the downshift. I notice if I lean my foot on the accelerator as I click for a downshift, it performs it a lot quicker than if I don’t.

Trying to work through the ABS issue at the moment. Noticing in block 125 that the ABS does not see the transmission.

Its a Bosch ESP8.0 unit, In an ideal world It'd be great to be able to re code the abs for automatic, but I'm not sure if its possible. When I look with VCDS no coding guide pops up. Does anyone know how I can find out the coding options for this ABS unit?

Is it an ODIS engineering job only?

Check out the OSOTEC ESPcalculator

Thanks,

Got hold of it but unfortunately it covers ESP8.2 and ESP9.0, it excludes ESP8.0 which is a bit of a pain
