hey, since there is no dumb questions here:

how can i read the bin file from my golf mk3 1.8l 90 hp from 1991?
which software can i use?

i found a small xdf for it online, but would also be grateful if anyone has a bigger one.

There will be no software for this old ecu.

You have to desolder the eprom and read it with eprom reader/programmer.

Hey, hm thanks for letting me know. Is there any information regarding this online? Perhaps even a tutorial video on how to do this? Desoldering is not exactly the problem, but it would be great to know where, how and what to do after.

If you look into the zip file he linked, its the same engine, same car just as a automatic and he has a bin file!

Did he also desolder the eprom for this or is there actually another way?

Probably. In those ecus there is mostly no protocol implemented to read anything from the rom.

And the Eproms are mostly one time programmable, so you have to desolder anyway to make changes. Google 27C1024 datasheet.

You might get lucky when searching online for VR6 Stuff, since it is a similar ecu family...

But i doubt for 1.8l

Open the ecu and take a picture. Save the speculation, and find out what you actually need
