Posting a supposedly stock 551P in the hopes that someone can help me work out why I have no CEL at key on. The light itself works fine with an output test using VCDS. Similar to http://nefariousmotorsports.com/forum/index.php?topic=4604.0

I have only owned the car for a few months so I don't know the history, but the car is completely stock so I can't imagine it's been tuned. However, the anti-tamper screws on the ECU cover have slots cut in them, so I gather the ECU has been out for some reason.

Anyway, does this look like a stock flash? What else could I flash with to verify CEL operation? Haven't been able to find another P-box anywhere to compare.

This is because this firmware is for the Euro2 emission standard, and this standard does not require the mandatory presence of CEL. The lamp is not activated in the firmware. Your file is completely stock.
If you need have working CEL crossflash your ecu with stock 4Z7907551N (Euro4) firmware and set in coding of ecu  first 2 digits to 11xxx.

Cool, thanks for confirming. I was thinking about flashing an N or R, I have more research to do first on the differences between the two, and also how to restore immo functionality.

R firmware is for US LEV eco standard and you should make some patches to use it instead of P firmware. N firmware is 100% compatible with P without any changes to ori firmware.

Awesome, thanks for sharing. Care to also share your sources? I would like to understand more. I've compared my bin with N in TunerPro and there are quite a few differences.

BTW, no one has done a definition for N as far as I can tell, most just use the R xdf?
