Hey does anyone know how to set up 2nd gear launch/AMAX for AL551 HP55?

This is common on the bmw ZF8 but I have not seen it discussed much for VAG cars. If anyone knows how to set this up please let me know, thanks!

Common?

How about you say what you want the car to do and not what you think needs to be done.

I have no logs because I have a boost gauge (makes things easier)

Its just an idea, I see a lot of BMW ZF8 users running this way. I am still dialing my car, I noticed on ZF8 first gear is super short, and I have to limit tq a bit as Itll just blow the tires off. would love to skip it and launch from 2nd if possible. Not saying my car needs it but it would be cool to try

And there we go, the XY Problem strikes again.
Tune the launch correctly, so what you describe does not happen, and done.

The amount of boost can be tuned and the launch RPM can be set, and it can be all done very precisely.

Yeah I get that, my issue was losing traction in 2nd gear after the shift. I do need better tires too but found a work around by pulling some tq.

So use traction control, you can do a simple one as custom code in the ECU, if you don't want to use the OEM...
ngfil is all you need to implement it.

Interesting, how can I learn more about doing that on MED17.1?

DS1 can use custom tables +/- code and has documentation, but despite making it much easier most people think it is too hard and we don’t offer a service to change user or tuner ideas on this into reality as the ideas, budget and testing requirements don’t disappear because you make something accessible to people that can’t use it.

The technical limitation is the number of tables or variables that are hooked because despite automation, if you get that wrong you make bricks

The human limitation is as usual the showstopper, but the feature is there to add traction control to your own spec without even flashing the ECU to test it.Then a 30 second flash to save it.

Interesting, thanks for the heads up I'll have to look more into it, that definitely would be something nice to try out. For now I have been limiting tq 2nd gear to get around the issue
