I’m trying to run a Bosch MG1CS002 ECU on the bench.
My current setup includes:

MG1CS002 (engine ECU) J623
Gateway (from the same car as the ECU) J533
ABS module J104
Driver assistance system module J1121

The OBD connector is wired directly to the gateway.
With ODIS I can connect to the gateway and I also see CAN traffic there.
However, communication with the ECU via OBD (e.g. requests to ID 0x7E0) does not work – the gateway does not forward the messages to the ECU.

My assumption is that the MG1CS002 communicates with the gateway via FlexRay instead of CAN.

Before I buy more modules for a bigger bench setup, I’d like to ask:
Has anyone successfully run an MG1CS002 (or a similar ECU) on the bench so that it can be accessed with ODIS or standard OBD2 diagnostics?

Regards Benni

Can you connect flexray between the gateway and ECU and ABS and try again?

I know the ECU communicates with the gateway over flexray (and not CAN) for UDS in an MLBevo car, but I haven't tried adding an ABS module on the bench to get flexray to initialise.

Hi,

everything is connected like in the schematic.

A friend of me has a RS6 and disconnected J104, J1121 and all other connectors from the ECU, but it is still communicating.

Also tried Immo off on ECU.

The only solution is to get that car to me but i want to have it on table Cheesy

Sorry I did not appreciate you'd already connected Flexray. I doubt you're that far away as I gather that ECU, ABS and gateway are enough, but haven't tried an ABS module myself, just ECU and gateway from different cars and there was something like a flexray initialization fault code in the gateway.

I also had to buy an RS6 because of all this to develop what I needed, but would like a working bench setup for other cars eventually.

It would be interesting to check which of the J104 and J1121 are needed to initialize Flexray on a car. If it continues to communicate with the ECU after they unplugged, it doesn't mean they weren't needed to start with. It also doesn't tell us whether they need to have the same VIN. I would guess that immo isn't needed since ODIS can do immo servicing by communicating with modules.

Hmm, but do i maybe need anything else because of my research should ABS,ECU and Gateway be enough?
I think i gonna need to spend more time on it.

You do not need anything else, you just have to connect it properly.
