Hello,

Does anyone have an original file? ECU is 04L907309AB. Would prefer pre Dieselgate.

Do you know which software versions are pre-Dieselgate and if the transmission (DQ500) has pre-Dieselgate versions too?

Thank you!!!

Software 04L907309AB doesn't exist, never has never will. It's the raw empty hardware part number of the ECU. So until you are able to supply the correct info, no one will be able to help you.

Hello,

Thanks for answering. Yes I know this is the ECU number. So the question is, for this HW number, what is the latest preDieselgate software?

If you need any more info i can provide by VCDS.

Thanks!

Well I think this is what you need:

Address 01: Engine
Control Module Part Number: 04L 906 016 FL
Component and/or Version: R4 2.0l TDI   H20 3201

HW number is irrelevant, all that's relevant is 04L906016FL. I see there used to be a sw version 1653 that exists, but I don't have it.

Thanks for the info. I found it online for 9 Euros so not much but do you know if the 1653 is pre-Dieselgate and the 3201 is Dieselgate?

Also is it possible that my car is non Dieselgate-Updated? It was serviced in Audi since 2019 so I guess that is not possible but there is noc 99xx version for 04L906016FL.

3201 version firmware release date is 2016-03-08 13:15:01 and it is current version till now.
1653 is first factory release for 2015 (first DG year) model year and maybe there is no preDG version firmware for DFUA engine at all.

This is great info! I could not get the dates anywhere, thanks!

According to this https://www.dw.com/overlay/media/en/dieselgate-a-timeline/19549915/40320515

Vw was oblidged to fix the sw in october 2016. Of course this doesn’t mean that they didn’t do it earlier.. My car was produced in May 2016. Also something that is telling me that it is Dieselgate is that if you open the file with a hex editor you can see sw number like 10SW009925. VW sw number is 3201 but bosch? Number contains 9925 whereas the 1653 file contains 10SW004416. I guess the correct one (pre dieselgate) is the 1653.

What is your opinion? Also do you know the date for 1653? Must be around 03/2015.

Many thanks!

The Bosch (or VAG) firmware version number doesn't indicate anything about "Dieselgate" for identification purposes and can't be used as an identification marker.
DG versions according to the Bosch number can be anything: 1037xxxxxx or 10SWxxxxxx.
There is no magic 99xx  Grin

The EDC17C64 control unit firmware release date is not stored in the control unit binary dump. It can only be viewed in the factory firmware container in ODX/FRF format. After loading (programming) this flash container into the control unit, the date disappears.
If you find anywhere  FL_04L906016FL_1653.odx file you can know the release date.

For example below is part of header text of ODX file for 04L906016FL_3201 firmware.

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

Difficult to find that. I don't see anything in google.

So I could test it maybe. If i have the 1653 bin file, can I write it directly with Kess v3?

Performing these actions is at your own risk. Downgrading the firmware in this manner may brick the engine control unit, and after
it repairing may be not simple way.
