Well, I have WinOLS and Tunerpro and I personally like Tunerpro's user-friendly setup over WinOLS. However, I know that I need to correct checksums when i change things in Tunerpro, and as I understand WinOLS can do this.

The question is, is there a way to open a newly Tunerpro-modified file in WinOLS (with the checksum .dll for my car) and simply perform a checksum correction and save it? Or do the tuning modifications HAVE to be made in WinOLS for it to do checksum corrections correctly?

I'm not 100% sure but I think this should be possible.

You will have to start a project using your original file, then import the modified into that project as a different version. The checksumms will be corrected if you have the right module, and then you can export the .bin

Hmmm.   It lists 2 types ME7 for VW.  Have to try that sometime.  Thanks,

The next release of the ECU flasher software will include support for validating checksums and correcting checksums. The initial checksum features will require the user to supply a checksum layout file which specifies the memory locations of the checksum values. I will supply a few layouts for the B5 S4.

After the initial checksum support is in, I will evaluate how feasible it is to add automatic detection of the the checksum data so that a layout file is not required. The initial checksum support is all from code I wrote a few years ago, so I want to get that released before I think about extending it.

I know what you mean I love tunerpro but not having checksums is a pain when working on some more complex ecu's. I'm developing a set of plugins for tunerpro to allow automatic checksum calculation every time you save the bin and VAG Motronic ME7 support is present.

Take a look at http://www.mtx-electronics.com/automotive/page.php?25

Try upgrading tunerpro.  They released a new version that creates that main directory, I had to just create the "plugins" directory.
