i'm using the driver i downloaded from your 'proper english' version as well as the software from you
I have not changed any serials yet as i cant seem to find the software serial with the hex editor you recommend, i am using a big wide screen monitor and the numbers are VERY small

i can get my serial by dumping it using nefmoto

This is what i get

<?xml version="1.0"?>
<FTDIDevicesFile Version="1.0.0.0">
  <Devices>
    <Devices>
      <Description>USB &lt;-&gt; Serial Cable</Description>
      <Flags>1</Flags>
      <ID>67330049</ID>
      <LocId>0</LocId>
      <SerialNumber>47514789</SerialNumber>
      <Type>FT_DEVICE_232R</Type>
      <Index>0</Index>
      <ChipID>0</ChipID>
    </Devices>
  </Devices>
</FTDIDevicesFile>

47514789 is the serial that comes with the galletto software, so you're good there.

I use both. Not sure how necessary it is, but if you've tried everything else, it can't hurt.

After weeks of not getting into boot mode i am about to throw in the towel

No matter what i do i cant read via galetto or Nefmoto

Iam using a windows 7 PC with a galetto cable and home made harness, stable power supply
I have permanent live on pins 21 and 62 and switched live on pin 3
Both pin 1 and 2 have ground
K line is connected to Pin 43
I have an earth switch on the leg of the chip pin 24 going to the outer board earth ring

I am pretty sure all my connections are good, i have used my multimeter to check continuity of all wires right from the powers and earths from the supply, thru the cable and into the ECU, even thru the pin connections on the board , also checked the earth switch i am using

Could i be having an issue with drivers or the port of the PC ?
I can read the serial of the cable via the nefmoto software so i must have some kind of connectivity
Do i need to do anything special on the PC?  my PC has lots of USB ports and i just use one of the front ones
When i plug the cable in and power everything up i get a red light on the cable but it has a slight green glow to it too, as if a small LED is on as well as a big red one, the green is quite hard to see unless you tilt the plug to see it
When i plug the cable into the PC i get the usb connected noise
The driver i am using is the one found on the Nefmoto page as the one that came with the cable said it had a virus when i tried to use it
Can anyone point me to a guide to removing then downloading and installing the driver correctly just in case i have done it wrong ?

Of course i may have a damaged ECU and wont know this until i try another, the car this came from was driving when it had an accident so WAS running, i can only assume it was working OK, i cant really afford another ECU just yet

Please help a frustrated soul on his journey to crack this IMMO !!
Thanks
Steve

PS the OBD connector where the light is gets warm, is this normal ?
