well all part i need are here
The pre made ECU to OBD adaptor was junk, did not fit, i assume it was for another ECU
So i chopped it up made my own

Ok i now have the ECU connected to my rig and my galetto cable, i have powered the ECU with a nice supply
I cant seem to read anything from my ECU
I have tried nefmoto and get 'failed to read test echo from ftdi device'
I'm pretty sure i have the driver installed ok

So i try the galetto software, after grounding pin 24 following this pic

it keeps saying bootmode inactive
I have tried 20 ish times and even timed the 5 secs
any pointers ?

Another question

Does the ECU need to be powered with a constant live on pin 3, then switch power on pin 62 to simulate ignition on/off?

just wanted to say i have checked continuity on all lines , all are fine

Should pin 3 be switched 12v and pin 63 permanent live ?
I have it wired the opposite way pin 3 permanent live and pin 63 switched live

My Galleto cable has a red light on and i'm selecting Audi Ecu's , vw/audi ME7.5 xxx 29F400BB, although i cant find any numbers on the ECU that correspond to this in any way

You need to power ecu pin 21! This is true for all immobilizer equipped me7's AFAIK.

Pin 63 is left blank. Pin 62 gets 12v. Take a look at the diagram you posted. It's accurate.

i have been using 62 not 63

So let me get this straight
Pin3 is permanent live, pin 21 is switched and pin 62 is powered too, switched with 21 or perma live ?
Thanks again

I just have them all hooked up to the 12v power source. When I power up the ecu they all get powered up. When I power it down, they all get powered down.

Still no luck  Roll Eyes

I think its either : low power, i'm getting 12.8/12.9v not 13v +

or ECU is KAPUT .... maybe due to the pad of pin 24 lifting off the PCB after me soldering a wire to it, but i re soldered onto the actual LEG of the pin and it seems fine (pic tomorrow)

or maybe something to do with the cable serial number (unless this only applies to Nefmoto software) not really sure what i'm talking about on this bit so i'll shut up and read a bit more

I'm sure i'm doing everything right as the cable seems to be recognised in the galetto software and Nefmoto

Or its beacuse its on com port 3

pin 3 is ignition switched. All the other 12v pins see 12v all the time.  putting a switch on pin3, and using that switch to initiate ecu power, made it a lot easier for me to get into bootmode.  voltage shouldn't be an issue, I get bootmode using an 11.5v supply.

After trying to get into boot mode for days now i still have had zero luck

I have Re wired my harness so it has switched 12v on No3 pin and constant 12v on 21 and 62, the kline is connected correctly and all earths are fine
My pin 24 ground switch works too , all connections to ECU have been tested with a multimeter

Still i get no response from galetto or Nefmoto

Does the USB have to talk to a certain port ?
Could i have a dead ECU ?

Any help would be appreciated
Steve

You are running the galletto drivers with the software right? Did you edit the program to show the correct serial number of your cable (or edit the serial number of the cable to match the software)?
