I'm looking at a project car I want to build into a cheap track whore.
Its AEB (DBC). From searching nefmoto, i gather you cant flash it from in car w/o adding a switch to power the flash write pin, and that the nefmoto flasher wont work with it (and i dont have MPPS).
is converting to ATW worth the trouble? Is it relatively easy? I assume nefmoto flasher can flash ATW over OBD connector in car.
Especially since i'm pretty familiar with ME7 at this point...

If you're gonna convert to ME7, might as well go AWM for wideband o2. You'll need a throttle body, harness, and MAP, as AEBs dont have a charge pressure sensor, only an external BARO sensor.

Just bridge the female connectors on the OBD port as shown, and you can flash 5.92 in the car with MPPS. As for the conversion: Absolutely worth it. ME7 is much easier since you're already familiar, you can do REAL emissions deletes, and you won't be learning from scratch. It's very easy. Some say you'll never get it to run right, but I'd just install the VVT cam tensioner, egt sensor, and wideband 02 along with the rest of the required sensors. Good to go!

pin 43 connects to the OBD port. Just bridge the pins shown (The diagram is backwards) when you flash.
If you power it permanently, you'll get a no-start and no comms with VCDS (too many communication errors to continue).

16 bucks.
It works better than nefmoto. Even if you fail a flash, it reconnects. I haven't needed bootomode since I bought it. If nefmoto fails, I connect with MPPS even when vcds can't.

6 one way, half dozen the other. I just get whichever's the cheapest/quickest on ebay.
You can spring for the authentic version, if I find a deal on one I'm going to get it.

NYET if you need some support I can help you as much I can. About MPPS if you find the right one (there are some HQ clones), it will work quite good without troubles. About M592 to ME75 I have a spreadsheet for wiring/harness conversion. About programming pin (normally pin#13 in OBD port) some Audi doesn't have it in OBD port, just wiring goes up to big block of connectors driver's side under windshield but doesn't continues to OBD port.

I've done it too, not hard at all just a bit time consuming. Definitely go with an AWM ECU too, makes no sense not to. There's a lot of small things like sensors that will need to be swapped over, and you'll need to make a harness for the throttle pedal and cruise control switch along with a bit of splicing under the dash but that's basically the gist of it. I've got a spreadsheet too but I started with a v6 so some pins might be different. All in all it was much easier than I expected, at least 90% of the pins on the square connectors behind the ECU matched right up.
