So why 1.8T BAM engine with k04 use VVT in stock ? 1240 - 4000rpm kfnwse switch vvt.
Also driving BAM gives feeling that you are driving 2.0 N/A in lower parts rpm.

emissions. Helps out cat heating.

VVT is useless on k03/k04

Its not true, with vvt enabled torque increases about 20lb-ft in the lower region, spool is 250rpm faster. Tested on BAM engine.

Have to agree here, I did some testing last year on a Bam hybrid setup and the difference between having it enabled and not enable was markably noticeable off boost.

Like gas been said time before on a k03 which is fast spooling its not so good as the benefit really comes when the engine runs like a n/a car before spool and the added overlap helps

Hey guys, hopefully someone will still come to this thread that can enlighten me a bit. I run a GT2871R .086 on my S3 BAM and I am trying to find out if I can get a little faster spool time. Here's the stock map:

and here is an image that shows what this translates into:

If I read this correctly, -4 (or 4 degress BTDC) means the cam control is on and we have a cam overlap, correct? Moreover it seems that audi already set the map to optimum settings even for bigger turbos, since my full boost comes at about 4500 rpm right now and it looks like cam control is on until 4000 rpm.

So should it be set to operate at higher RPM maybe up to 5000, would it help if the cams are overlapping for a while when full boost is already achieved?

Thank you!

Some times i have noticed that i have better spool when engine is cold...  Maybe some settings can be copied from that state...  just an idea..

Whatever you are feeling is not related to the cam control though. There are other maps that control the cam control on warmup but they look pretty identical to KFNWSE.

I also had better spool on engine warm-ups, but that was the SAI helping spool, it was gone as soon as I deleted it Smiley

On BMW MS43 some use warm up Vanos map when turbo. There was an explanation on e46 fanatics. Not sure if it applies to Me7 cars.

Better spool on warm up could be something as simple more torque feeling due to low iat timing delta increase  Wink

Here are the maps that you must change to activate the function.
Were posted here in a discussion and I do not remember who.
I did it in my car and it worked. With this music for so long that I can not remember if I got better. Then I activated it with k03s, then I changed the turbo for a he221w and I just got the music for the new turbo and always with vvt command activated. Motor auq.

Here are the maps.
Scalar: CWNWSG changed from 1.00 (0x01) to 0.00 (0x00)
.
Scalar: CDTENWS changed from 220.0 (0x00DC) to 733.0 (0x02DD).

Table: KFNWSE changed.

Scalar: CDTENWSE changed from 326.0 (0x0146) to 745.0 (0x02E9).

Table: FNWTME changed.
