Ok Ddillenger helped me a ton and I got the computer communicating with the ecu but it only reads to about 50% of the data transfer and then fails to communicate... any ideas on what to check?

Retry after it connects. Should work. Do you have an s4, or a6? If it's an a6 the gauges could be wreaking havoc.

S4 this is the third time I have retried, Still ok but it isnt all the way to 50%, I am a bit nervous to try and flash a new program as that could be bad if it doesnt work!

So it is going farther than it has the first 2 times.. fingers crossed, I have been extremely careful to avoid bumping anything so the cables stay connected... Honestly I wonder if my computer just isnt powerful enough it is about 5 years old and wasnt high end when I first bought it let alone now!

bah, I flash with either an acer aspire one, or a samsung q1 UMPC (800mhz processor).

Don't try to flash anything until you're SURE you won't get disconnected. If you do, you'll be learning how to bootmode, or sending me the ecu Smiley
