So I have a defictive ECU 06a 906 032cl that was chipped,(soldered).Recently I had some trouble with it, it would work for 30 minutes thent it would start acting funny. Is it possible to read the chipped maps with nefmoto and then copy them to the new stocky ECU?

The firmware may block reading, depending who's tune it is.

If the file on the ECU blocks reading over OBD, then you can use boot mode with KWP2000Plus, Galletto, or MiniMon to read the ECU.

If you can't get anywhere reading the file - I can desolder the eeprom and read it for you.

Thanks, the chip that I have is removable, it has the chip holder soldered to the ECU.

Even better - send me the chip and I can read it for you, reflash it to whatever file you provide and send it back!

One more q - is the chip directly socketed or is it on a board with encryption chip?

Silly question maybe, but can you use Galletto while the ECU is in the car and still plugged in?  Everything I've read about boot mode implies you need to open up the ECU, but all the Galletto cables use the OBD-II connector... so is everyone building an ECU harness to use the OBD-II connector with the ECU out of the car or is there another way to enter boot mode?

You can open up the ECU to do boot mode, but still leave the ECU connected to the car.

It gets a little tricky, but you can do it.
