I requested a quote from a company that specializes in translating technical documents about getting this translated. Without seeing the document, they quoted me at $100,000-$200,000. Anyone want to contribute....lol.

As I said in my earlier post, try copying and pasting it into Google's translation engine. I found this to be usefully accurate. Word order was sometimes awry, but if you know roughly what you're expecting to read (i.e. some background knowledge of Motronic functionalities is required), it's not too difficult to get a meaningful translation of the bits you need. Dict.cc is also very good at dealing with technical terms.
If you're looking for any modules containing a specific function, just search for the key word or function and then translate the main ones.

I bought a map a few months back and although it's good, it has a few niggling flaws so I'm learning slowly what I need to do to make it fit me better. I only have the odd evening so as and when I get a chance I translate a few modules.
What you just shared is more help to me that you'd think. Thank you.

I know what you mean. Translating technical German, even with the massive help of an automated electronic facility is satisfying in itself.
Like optical character recognition software, I had low expectations of it providing any useful accuracy, but I recently discovered the excellent ABBYY Finereader software for that and was pleasantly surprised by Google's effort for translation...

Thanks for posting this! As said, many sleepless nights ahead  ... I used to be working with OEM factory with EDC17/7 ECU:s as a calibrator and this is a great find since I need to work on some ME gasoline ECU:s now as I started working with aftermarket equipment recently. Any news for the english Fiat version? |

Hey guys, I've been dealing with trying to get the best relatively quick English translation of this document possible, without expensive tools. I'm going to be doing the whole document and posting it up here in English (rough), but there's two ways to go about it that I'm deciding between. I've got a rough setup of the first 75 pages that shows the weaknesses of each method, and I need you guys to look over the documents and compare them to each other and to the original to tell me which way is the best.

You know what, after thinking about it, I'm probably going to do it both ways, so if one has a question about the translation (they're both kinda rough), they can see if it's said slightly differently in the other before they go breaking out a dictionary.
