i've been tying to put an ME7.1 and an ME7.5 into boot mode but when i ground the pin suggested i get no response from the ECU when using nefmoto. im using a home made bench flashing cable i made OBD port. i take a 1K 1/4 watt resistor and solider it to the outermost pad that surrounds the ECU and touch the other end to the pin suggested on the flash chip of each ECU. tried just a straight ground and no luck either. am i missing something? there's alot of info out there about it but everyone is so vague when it's talked about. if i just power up the ECU its fine. any input would be great. thanks.

You need to use a bootmode tool like Galetto or Minimon to talk with the ECU in bootmode.
"Normal" OBD tools talk to the ECU using the KWP2000 protocol, this is only possible when
the ECU is running normally.
At least it seems you brought the ECU successfully into bootmode, since the NefMoto flasher
could no longer connect after you grounded the bootpin Wink

sweet man, thanks for the info. i didnt know there was a specific cable needed to read it after boot mode.

Galletto is fairly simple, but you need a Galletto cable.

MiniMon will work with any dumb cable, but you have to setup all of the config options yourself.
