I put the entire drivetrain from a 2001 Passat into a 1973 Porsche 914. The swap included: Engine, Tranny, ECU, Dash Cluster and steering column.

I have eliminated all DTC's except the ABS module. The code is held in the ECU, transmitted over the gateway to the instrument cluster. The cluster displays "STOP, Owners Manual" with a "Ding" over and over. BTW, I don't have ABS brakes...

Does anyone know how to turn the ABS off in the ECU?

The ECU is holding the code, not the cluster. The cluster only displays it.  VCDS shows no codes in the cluster. The ECU shows several ABS codes. I was able to code the SRS out of the cluster.

A 01 is new enough to have esp or asr. That is why the ecu have faults the DBW is affected by traction control,
This is something I am also curious about? I wish I had answers for you but I do not as of now. I'm looking into the same
kind of thing I put a r32 engine in a thottle cable 2.0 car so the car has abs but no asr.

Did you recode gateway? (address word 19), it's part of the cluster.  If I remember right you'll code it to 0 as its a standard trans, without abs and without airbag.  I think that will take care of the warnings in the cluster.

Post the ecm part number I'll look at the coding chart for that as well, or use vcds which should give you coding charts for both.

I have re-coded both the cluster and Gateway. Can't get rid of the ABS. I did get rid of the other CEL's by re-coding.

The ECU is a 4B0 906 018 BG. Dazq tried to help me via remote Teamviewer. 034 Motorspot locked the ECU and it can't be read. I opened the case in hopes to ground pin 24, boot mode but they epoxied all over the eprom. I think I will do more damage trying to remove the epoxy.

Not sure what to do. I guess I need to take it back to 034 for an update.

Any ideas?

I also took the car to the VW dealer. The service manager is a young kid that is into modified cars. He was stoked to help me but says his VAS device has less features than my VCDS and the factory does not support removing ABS. Apparently ABS is standard on all VW's around the world, so a ROW code will not help either.

JUST a guess, A different 95040 file may allow you the read/write the eprom.
make sure to save a copy of the 95040 thats there or it may never work again

epoxy is nothing to be afraid of. not to mention, there are several locations for a bootpin on the ecu.

This is a good point, I only use the one but have seen a video with atleast one other.
Look into to this first.
The 95040 is the immo chip, some tuners use it make their files a pain in the ass.

You can use this pin on the RAM chip as a bootmode alternative. Follow the same protocol but substitute the pin shown for the eeprom pin 24. It's on the underside of the board.

i see 2 pretty easy to use points in that picture up there. do you really need someone to tell you to just follow the trace?
