I have EFILIVE for tuning my GM vehicles, and Eurodyne to tune my 2.7T. And I use my Rosstech cable for little stuff on VW/Audi.

I just picked up a 2003 RS6 and and wondering what is the best way to tune the car? Meaning what software, I haven't noticed any.

Any help so I can start tuning would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Scott

Reading is too hard and time consuming. It is better to post with the same exact questions as 50 people before and what informative original posts already covered.

I did a search under rs6 and came up with nothing regarding what software or hardware is being used to tune them... Sad

Strange, I typed RS6 in search box and got lots of hits including A2L and XDF files with ECU definitions which is the hard to come by part. Rest is the same as any other ECU...

Please read read about tuning basics (and no, eurodyne maestro is not a tuning tool), including software available to accomplish the task.

Ok, so in short, it sounds like if I download the nefmoto "software" and load an A2l file into my pc, i should be  ready to start...

Ive only dealt with the large software conpanies that sell the plug it in and tune stuff like eurodyne and EFILIVE. Im very good with EFILIVE, had an 850 rwhp setup a few years back. Been outta the game for a while do to a career change.

Thanks, any pointers much appreciated...

Hi,

Im an RS6 owner too & have contributed a few things here so far. There should be a spreadsheet with some map addresses at the very least. I have had no luck with nefmoto on my car - mpps v12 is reliably flashing it every few days at the moment...

Gearbox is the place to start though, before engine ECU. Torque limiters here must be removed to make any kind of serious progress Smiley

Cheers!

So if Nefmoto is not allowing you to tune the Ecu, are you using something else? What are you using to tune the trans??

Thanks for the input!

It seems you are missing something.
There is no tool that will magically allow you to change everything and have the right descriptions for everything.

There is no efilive and so on. Trans is tuned with a hex editor.

What do I download to change the hex? Sounds like the nefmoto download will allow me to?

Sweegie says hes had no luck with nefmoto, im curious what should be used then. I wish eurodyne played with the rs6 ecu, I made big power with there stuff and allowed to edit all the maps I needed... I wonder what problems he had, hope he posts back up...

Sorry if I sound like an idiot, I just need to be pointed in the right direction so I can make a crazy powerfull 4.2 here. I can make a motor perform as long as I have the access to do it. Lol

Besides Eurodyne, which was great to work with and Chris made many updates I needed per my request to allow me to make my stage 3+ A6 perform, that car very fast. That car was seriously outperformed my RS6 bu a large margin. If I cant get into this RS6 soon its going for sale... :/

What are the top hex editors to try?

Thanks guys...

You need to read more. As for what sweegie uses, he just told you, MPPS v12 (clone). Search ebay, the cable is 16 bucks. If you're in a hurry I keep a few around that I no longer need I'd sell you for what I paid (and they're already in the US).

Read the s4 tuning wiki:

I just need to be pointed in the right direction

I attempted to do that in my first post to you, but it's obvious you haven't bothered to take my advice since you're still asking the same questions as your OP.

The sooner you get to reading, the sooner you will get to tuning your RS6 correctly.

So, unfortunatly tuning the RS6 is not going to be like using EFI live. There are a number of steps you'll have to use and a lot to learn. As others have said, there is a mine of useful information here and on the s4wiki that will explain the basic workings of the Motronic 7 ECU used in these cars.

You'll then have to find 2 things. Firstly, you will need a program and suitable data cable to read and write the eeprom contents of the engine ecu. This is what Nefmoto and MPPS do. They do not tune the car, simply move information between the car and your laptop.

Once you have the original file from your car downloaded, you will then need to start analysing the file, finding map locations and editing accordingly. In essence, you have two basic choices here.... TunerPro is free and good... Winols is expensive and superb & has some very good features for reverse engineering. You can find a trial version though at EVC's website that will get you going. I'd suggest looking at some of the S4 Winols projects you'll find on here & use these as reference while you digest the information on the S4 wiki website and the mass of information on here.

There's plenty of help available if you ask the right questions, but make no mistake, this is hard and the only way to get a quick solution is to buy one. You will need a file for the gearbox - I bought mine from MTM, but others on here can help if you ask.

Once you've downloaded your eeprom, look for my spreadsheet on here and find LDRXN in the binary. This will be a good start Smiley

Good luck Smiley
