Hello all,

I've been searching for this mythical bit to disable the EGR on an EDC15V Ecu,

there are threads out there on it, and they're all working on the following:
Code:
Look the hex dump in 8bit Text mode.
Set the number of columns to 10.
Look for: 001 001 000 000 001 000 001 000 001 048 string.
The first 001 is EGR Switch with/without (1/0).
The second 001 is Boost Control Switch with/without (1/0).

for the life of me, i cant find anywhere close to that string in my ECU.

Could someone spare a tic and take a look?

Car in question is a 2002 Jetta TDI.

This method works in EDC15V, your is EDC15P, "small" difference

Everything i'm finding on the EDC15P is for the PD based motors, not the VE.

Does that come down to software? or hardware level?

Edit: Checked it out, The ECU is reported as EDC15VM+V

I've made a bit of headway, Not much however.

Seems that 74A7D -> 74ADC is the CEL area...

Seeing if i can see something that would lead me to the position of the EGR switch ( and hopefully the MAF As well! )

Also: 71BB8 -> 71BB8 seems to be of interest.

You can also just change the EGR flow map and fix it that way.

Thanks for the reply,

I've located the EGR maps at: 00074e4e ,00064E4E and 00054E4E

Maxxed them out at 850.0/8500 ( depending on the program you look at it with ) and during driving around, the EGR shows 19.9% on idle, and 4.3% on any throttle.

Is that normal? i was expecting 0% across the board.

I believe that is normal, if your car is a 5sp then you only needed to change the map at 54E4E....it doesnt hurt to change all three either.
If you would like to unplug the EGR solenoid N18 and not get a code you can look at my file I just posted at ecuconnections for N18 delete. It's the same exact file as your car has 038906012FD but I also did a MAF delete.
I explained how to delete the codes for EGR and MAF. I also included a map pack along with my ori+mod files.
Click for link to ecuconnections

Great first post...huh   Wink
