Pretty sure I've read that the older ECU uses a different ignition driver, which can't stand FTMON (dwell time) going to zero, hence it blowing a fuse (if you're lucky), or melting a coil.
Saying that, the first time I tried it on mine (AUM, so should be the newer driver), it blew a fuse. Never tried it since mind. Used antilag/launch control todo, some quiet pops and it took off like a rocket.
Only problem is, if you do the anti-lag stationary, it makes deafening bangs, and shoots 4ft flames out the back. So much so, the first time I did it, there were armed response out and a helicopter above where I did it.

Ive had success with it on newer ecus. That is what I also heard but I remember reading somewhere that you can set FTMON to 0.02 or 0.2 cant remember which exactly and it will keep it from blowing I was hoping thats someone with more experience could give me a certain answer on it

Have you ever ran it on the earlier ecus?

So ive read through the 032hn implementation of launch control thread again and what seems to be the general understanding is that the older coil driver doesnt like FTMON set at 0 which causes it to see a invalid signal which ends it blown fuses coils or driver. So if like hammersword says u change it to 0.2 would that in theory make it work without issue on the older ecu's?

Are you trying to enter decimal values into raw hex?
Sure sounds like it.

I'm probably being a total retard here, buuuttt..
Type in 0.2, and it auto changes back to 0. Put in anything higher than .5 and it'll go to 1..

You can't do it with FTMON on the early ECU.

I've been out all weekend and not had a chance to even look at that. Assumed there would be an option though! I'm using WinOLS, but the concept will be the same, I'd've thought. Thanks though! My brand new TSI coils are now no longer brand new, and missing under WOT. Emailed the company to ask if they've take them back because they don't work..
