Hi there,

I had been experiencing a lot of frustration trying to read the file from a B5 A4/1.8T ME7 ECU (4B0906018P).

First of all, it never pass the 29F400BB/29F400 Memory Layout verification, it is failing both of them and the process interrupt. So trying with the 29F800 Layout it pass the verification and start the reading process but finally crashes over 57% (probably because it is not finding the memory registers).

The more strange thing is that when restarting Key Switch, it sometimes trhows a strange message instead the ECU code:

Switching to KWP2000 session.
Validated FTDI device is in dumb mode.
Disconnected
Connecting...
Starting slow init connection.
Connecting to address 0x01.
Slow init succeeded.
Switching to KWP1281 session.
KWP1281 connect info: THIS-IS-THE-RAM-PROGRAM-
Connecting to address 0x01.
Slow init succeeded.

And sometimes it shows normal data:

Slow init succeeded.
Switching to KWP1281 session.
KWP1281 connect info: 4B0906018P  1.8L R4/5VT     G   0006
Connecting to address 0x01.
Slow init succeeded.
Switching to KWP2000 session.
Sending start communication request.
Connected

This is the log when tried to read with the 29F400BB layout:
Switching to KWP2000 session.
Sending start communication request.
Connected
Disabling Windows sleep mode.
Reading ECU flash memory.
ECU reports programming session preconditions have been met.
Negotiating communication timings.
Successfully changed to new communication timings.
Requesting security access.
ECU reports that security access is not supported.
Starting diagnostic session.
Successfully started diagnostic session.
Negotiating communication timings.
Disconnecting because no response was received for the Tester Present message.
Disconnected
Reading ECU flash memory failed.
100% complete.
Restoring Windows sleep mode.

This is the log when using 29F400:
Connecting to address 0x01.
Slow init succeeded.
Switching to KWP2000 session.
Sending start communication request.
Connected
Disabling Windows sleep mode.
Reading ECU flash memory.
ECU reports programming session preconditions have been met.
Negotiating communication timings.
Timing negotiation failed. Communication timings are unchanged.
Requesting security access.
ECU reports that security access is not supported.
Starting diagnostic session.
Successfully started diagnostic session.
Negotiating communication timings.
Successfully changed to new communication timings.
Requesting security access.
Security access granted.
Validating flash memory starts at 0x00800000 and ends at 0x00880000.
End address is not the end of flash memory.
Reading ECU flash memory failed. Trying to force ECU to recognize read operation is complete.
Finished forcing ECU to recognize that failed read operation is complete.
Reading ECU flash memory failed.
100% complete.
Restoring Windows sleep mode.

It is so strange, Im frustrated.... Any support is really appreciated,

If it doesn't validate the layout, continue anyway.

I had no problem reading this one. Just a side note, when you run ME7sum with this file and you have modified it, always check with ME7check and if it fails rerun the fixed file.
