Hi guys

My car has a 2001 bosch me7.5 ECU.

I need to replace it so I'm going to also need to sync or defeat the immobiliser in the new one.

Someone said that i can use the cheap vag commander cable to do this but I'm not sure what one i should get.

Should i get the version 1.4 or 5.1?


Also can you use the any cable with any version?

For example could i buy a version 5.1 cable and use it with 1.4, or buy a version 1.4 cable and use it with 2.5.

From the bit of research ive done it seems that as my one is a 2001 then i should be able to do everything through the obd port.


What cable would i need for vag commander 2.5 ?

My FTDI FT232R cable works fine with vag commander 2.5. I couldn't get it to work with version 3.6 in Win 7 x64. The original bundle was with vag-commander 5.1 though, but that version was good for nothing. No read/write immo functions.
Thats the bundle i got, but i'm sure there are more that will work for you.
