Ok it says specified layout is not correct.  Not real sure what that means.

What ECU? It sounds like you figured out to browse and select a layout. Which one did you select?

It's an 00 S4 A-box 551A.  Ok I used the F200 and now it validates but the other buttons are still greyed out.

Are you on a bench or in the car? First, you going to want to read flash to download and backup your binary file. Then, if you have a tuned file to flash you will want to write flash. If you are flashing in the car, ensure that you have enough power. I either hook up jumper cables to my other car, or, if I am at the garage, I hook up a charger. Also, if you are flashing a tuned file, make sure your checksums are corrected before flashing. I use setzi's ME7check everytime before flashing to make sure.

Ok so what is wrong with this file?  Tried to load it and the car would not start but said flash completed successfully.

TIA!

For the record it is entirely possible to have a BIN file full of garbage that has been checksum corrected.

This is a pain because it'll flash fine but then ODB2 flashing wont work.

It would be nice if only known BIN files were posted otherwise the forum could get flooded with bricked ECU victims.

Should ban the uploading of .bin files in the forum(sans legitimate files), and perhaps make another section explicitly for posting 'what's wrong with this .bin' threads and allowing uploads in them, stating to not openly use these on their cars.
