Dealers on newer ECUs are using erwin and whatever the new vw tool is to flag modded ecus.
They manufacture it to be debugged but freakout if its modded. Weird thing is under EPA law they have
to provide a stock tune to download incase of checksum error.

I still don't understand what you're trying to say. The modded cars can be made to "not show" that they're modded

So in laymen's terms when dealers scan ecu's it looks at the binary and compares it to a stock bin, which will flag a modified bin?

Not exactly, but they can flag a modified ECU, yes.

seems like just a way to delay the inevitable. Sad for those dealerships supporting and dealing with aftermarket tunes. Local VW dealer I worked at sold apr software. Since 2005 they have been on a mission to crack down on modified mechanical components and software. I was stage 2 on water/meth with every bolt on you could imagine still got my ko3s replacement. This maybe the start of a nightmare for enthusiasts which is what kind of the reason why this vw/audi cult started.
