All EUII files I've seen have the CEL disabled. Hoping someone who's more fluent with IDA has seen something relevant.

CWNOMIL

Codeword MIL-control not active

It seems setting this from 00--->01 disables the CEL. Still looking through the FR to see what else is involved here.

Does anyone run the 551F? I noticed in the 551F CWNOMIL=01, whereas the 551K CWNOMIL=00. That would lead me to believe (hope) that along with misfire monitoring, the 551F has no CEL.

I know is not ME7 related but my M383 Euro file 06A906018CG 0261206518 352127 is MIL light diabled too. I think that this was common in some pre-2000 Euro files.

Yes, it's disabled.

There isn't even a light in the dash.  The law means it's not required.

Well I've been able to revive the light before by flashing a EU3 file, or US file, so I know many times it is disabled in the flash.

I *THINK* I have the CEL sorted, but now I'm trying to figure out readiness. Despite copying PROKANOL from the US file, all readiness still shows as unsupported (instant pass in VCDS).

Trudging through the FR is proving time consuming as I don't know the acronym I'm even looking for.

This really sucks, but it appears there are no EU3 S6/S8 Manual files in existence. The ones I find have VARDEF of 05612. I need something with 10612 as a possibility.

CWNOMIL being changed from 01 to 00 has successfully enabled the check engine light to function. Setting PROKANOL has enabled diagnosis of the emissions components (along with ESKONF) but still no readiness. All is unsupported.

Strangely enough Euro 3 is from 2000 on, and the D2 S8 did in fact come with a 6 speed from the factory and I'm pretty sure it's Euro 3 compliant.

I have lots of EU3 ME7.1.1 files, just no ME7.1

The last things I need to deal with here are:

1: Misfire detection
2: Readiness monitors

Other than that, everything is great.

In the EU, the MIL was mandatory with the introduction of EOBD in 2001. EOBD monitoring shared a lot in common with US OBD2 standards such as monitoring cat efficiency or any other control parameters that cause untoward taipipe emissions delta on the NEDC cycle.
