Going to have go at flashing my ecu this weekend.  I will do it on the bench with galletto 1260.  It's my daily driver so I really don't want a no start situation hence the questions...
1.  Is a 1999 euro A6 c5 4.2 ARS.  Can anyone confirm this is ME7.1?  And 800BB?
2.  I was going to use this .bin Audi S6 AQJ 4D0907559D  - with a few adjustments as necessary - would that be the right one?  And should I use the .xdf from the 559e to read it (in the absence of a proper 559d .xdf) I think thats what Darren was saying in this thread but not quite sure http://nefariousmotorsports.com/forum/index.php?topic=4296.0.
3.  I don't have a power supply to bench flash - but I do have a BIG 12v battery in good condition from an armoured vehicle - will that be adequate alone?  I could put it on a car charger but I only have a  smart one which might not produce such a steady current.  Can probably find someone to borrow a normal charger from if need be
4.  Is this going to mess with the immobiliser - do I need to take any steps to prevent this.

Sucess.  It took me a while to figure it all out but I used galletto 1260 and flashed it in boot mode
