I did some searching and quickly realized there are more than a few versions and sources for these cables. I'm ready to finally purchase one, and was wondering...

1. current best source ($ and reliability-wise)
2. differences between the versions and what I get with each

Thanks for any and all replies!

i have a version 12 cable and im running version 13 software, it works great no complaints here.  my cable is solid black with a white mpps sticker on the obd connector.  i think it was less than $30  and ive used it probably almost 100 times over the past couple years.

You may be pointed to a "good" clone but still it is a gamble .

The same chinese company sells white clones/black with stickers clones , all version 12 or 13 but the outcome is different everytime.
Buy and test it may not work , buy again from the same company it may or may not work again.

That was my story not very long ago . Nowdays I got an original MPPS and everything is fine  Cool

Is this happening with the cable plugged in?

I have used cable more than a year, sporadically. I have been testing cable on bench, interface connected to ECU and computer, computer have no internet, no antivirus and almost no program running.
